At Essex Dyslexia, all tuition begins with a thorough initial assessment. This allows me to build a clear profile of your child’s strengths and areas of difficulty across reading, spelling, phonics and memory skills. The results are then used to create a bespoke learning plan, ensuring every session targets exactly what your child needs in order to make progress.

Lessons are structured, cumulative and multisensory, following evidence-based approaches proven to support learners with dyslexia. New skills are taught in small, carefully sequenced steps and regularly revisited so learning is secure, meaningful and long-lasting. Sessions might include spoken language, movement, visual prompts, hands-on resources and writing activities, helping information to be processed through multiple pathways in the brain.

Importantly, tuition is designed to be fun and motivating. Children learn best when they feel relaxed and confident, so sessions include games, interactive activities and supportive technology to keep engagement high and anxiety low. From phonics games and spelling challenges to digital tools that reinforce reading and writing skills, each session is carefully balanced to be both enjoyable and highly effective.

Whether your child is struggling with reading accuracy, spelling, fluency, or confidence, these tailored sessions provide the targeted support they need to build skills, independence and a more positive relationship with learning.

A formal diagnosis of dyslexia is not required — tuition is suitable for any child experiencing difficulties with reading, spelling, writing or other areas of literacy, whatever the underlying cause.
